The Geopark of Central Catalonia took part from the 7th to the 9th of September at the 14th European Geoparks Conference, an international day that had the motto 'Geoparks: pathways of sustainable tourism for development' on the occasion of the declaration of 2017 as the Year International Tourism Sustainable for Development by the World Tourism Organization (WTO), an initiative in which Global Geoparks participate as gold partners.
During these three days in Geoparque of the Azores, the scientific director of the Geopark, Ferran Climent, and the tourist manager exchanged knowledge and experiences with other geoparques and experts to promote geotourism, its geological, natural and cultural heritage, the Its educational and pedagogical values and its preservation, among others.
In addition, representatives of the Geopark of Central Catalonia also played an active role and made two papers during the 14th European Geoparks Conference. The head of tourism presented the work 'The Cantata': Queralt, the dreamer: an extraordinary way to educate on values of the Central Catalonia Geopark ', a successful initiative of the Catalan Association of Music Schools framed in Cantaxics 2016 which became an important pedagogical asset to disseminate the work carried out for the preservation and awareness of the geological and geographical wealth of the territory.
For his part, Ferran Climent explained the involvement of the community and networking in the promotion of Geopark with the presentation 'Public libraries as new great partners for geoparks', an exposition detailing the synergies created thanks to the program Tourist Information Points (PIT) and described how libraries have become important collaborators in the promotion of the tourist, cultural and historical resources of the local heritage of the territory. Thus, the 14th European Geoparks Conference served to present the works carried out in the field of geoconservation, dissemination and enhancement of the geological heritage, and at the same time became an important forum for debate, networking and exchange of ideas.

Climent assures that "the revalidation of the title is an acknowledgment of the work that has been done thanks to the participation of many public and private agents in the territory, and the good work of the whole team that manages the project."
The Geopark of Central Catalonia is aware that it is necessary to continue working hard and with a great commitment to be able to revalidate this seal periodically that distinguishes the territory with one of the most prestigious designations of the world, by the hand of UNESCO. "It is necessary to make an effort to continue giving visibility throughout the territory and articulating the discourse so that everyone can do it and incorporate it into their project. A visitor center, continue working on the relationship with the private sector, enhance the work in education, education, research and conservation, and continue collaborating with other Geoparks are the other main lines of action, "concluded Climent.
